Volume 5 – London and the South-East
ISBN 978-0-9562092-5-2
Due May 2012
This volume features the eastern half of Southern England. We start our journey in Royal Berkshire and then embark on an extended visit to London, before reaching the coast in Kent, the ‘Garden of England’. We then cross Sussex, up into Surrey and then Hampshire. The travel party of the book ends with us on the Isle of Wight. In classical poster times Bournemouth was in Hampshire, but now, boundary changes place it in Dorset. Throughout the book, there is a wonderful selection of SR, LSWR, LBSCR and SECR and British Railways posters, with some LMS and LNER posters of London. This book has approaching 390 images to delight southern aficionados. The front cover poster is Frank Mason’s superb 1946 London Pride, with Frank Sherwin’s evocative 1950s painting of blossom-time in Kent on the rear. The Foreword is written by The Hon Sir William McAlpine Bt.
