Volume 2 - Yorkshire and the North East England

Volume 2 of Poster To PosterISBN 978-0-9562092-1-4

Published May 2010

This second book in the series sees us in the North East quarter of England. We begin where we started the journey in Volume 1, at Berwick-upon-Tweed. The train takes us south towards the industrial Tyne and Tees areas, but we can take in the sights of the lovely Northumberland coast, before the arrival into Newcastle. Then it is south into Durham, with the imposing cathedral and the seat of learning before moving west into beautiful Teesdale. Industrial posters contrast with swirling rivers and rolling hills. The rest of the book is a blizzard of Yorkshire posters covering the Dales, the Moors, the scenic coast and the City of York. Over 370 posters are used.

Volume 3 - The Midlands and Wales

The third volume in the series shows posters for the Heart of England, plus South and Mid-Wales. From the West Midlands we move into Monmouthshire and see the delights of Pembrokeshire and the Cambrian Coast. The city of Oxford, the delights of Stratford-upon-Avon and the lovely Cotswolds all feature strongly. More than 300 posters are included.

Volume 4 - The Eastern Counties

Volume 4ISBN 978-0-9562092-3-8

Published September 2011

Volume 4 covers the Eastern Counties of England. We take a journey from Lincolnshire to Essex. This takes in the cities of Lincoln, Ely, Cambridge, and Norwich, plus the cathedrals at Bury St. Edmunds and Chelmsford. We also see the picturesque Norfolk Broads, tranquil, rolling Suffolk and Hertfordshire en route. The area around the Essex-Hertfordshire border sees some archetypal English villages. We finish at the seaside in Southend-on-Sea. The cover for this volume is Tom Purvis’s eye-catching Norfolk Broads, with Frank Mason’s impressive Harwich Docks on the rear. This was a region favoured by railway advertisers. Over 360 posters are included in this large book, which has a strong maritime theme throughout.  The Foreword has been written by Rt. Hon Michael Portillo.
